No you don't have to go out and buy uniforms and lots of gear right away. The unit has loaner gear for new recuits. New members have 1 year to fully outfit themselves. We also have a rifle program where for a $10 donation to the company. The unit will let you use one of it well maintained rifle. This is usually wavered for your first event. Often if you have a friend in the unit they will loan you what you need.
We would like you to attend 5 events a year, But this is not manatory. After a 6 months you can be voted into our unit and get full voting rights. Then you will be responsable for your yearly dues ( 25 dollars)
You see its pretty easy to get started as a reenactor. The hard part will be the time between events. So "Put on the Blue with Company B" Look sharp,save the union, free the oppressed, impress the gals, and have dam good time doing it.
