I joined Company B of the Second Rhode Island Vols. in de summer of 1990. I mustered in with a big tall fellow names Bob Perwas, turned out to be de biggest fellow in de company.But he alway fogots to stand on de right cause he is de tallest and the tallest got to go on de right. you know, some army rules. The Sargent was a nutter big fellow named Jim Parisi. He was a fine looking soldier in that blue uniform, didn't look likesome one to be missin with none. He lets me shoots his rifle, Yep, I knows right then I was born to shoot them rebels. De Sargent says to puts all the bullets in the gun at once and you can kill more rebel each times you shoot. I didn't do it, I thinks he just kidding. The Captain was this little short fellow name Paul Bader He looked like a civil war soldier. but he was not one for the kind words, I don't think he was loved by all He sure was good at them tactics.We was always capturing rebel units and reb canons. His son Billy was the company corporal and he looked like he stepped out of a history book. He was the right size and age of men who fought in de War. Even had the face of a soldier. The Sargent's son Frank even bigger than his dad and a bits on the wild side. they would argue a bits over silly things. There was the Shultz brothers, I think one or both of them went off to join the Navy ,Dave Hanzel who left the next season.I was told, because Paul made fun of his dog. Bill Rigert who was friends Dave joined a New York unit,most likey because he lives in upstate N.Y. John and Jeff Kurz, stayed a few years untill jeff went to collage. John McCoy later became Captain for a couple of seasons the just dissapeared. Don Tarpy who left when Jim Parisi retired as Captain.There wasGary McCullick Rolan Spooner, who was originaly from Rhode Island. and lived in Virgina, Rolan had I lot of teeth missing. Phil Myarona the denist,who said to me he was Roland's denist.Bob Franke, and Hank Shotwell Later Vincent Grant, John Portonova and Bob Padron joined Vincent would melt wax and make naked lady figures with big breast around the campfire ( Vincent was a teenager) Ya all knows sgt. Padron. Dean Munley and his pretty wife Shiryl. There was a gaggle of folks from R.I. and Mass. I Remember, Paul Olivera And Johnerthon.but the rest of the names I forgots That was my first couple of seasons.Well that all I rember fo now!
